About Teresa Rego
Teresa Rego is a Portuguese illustrator and designer currently living in Porto. She pursued her Master’s Degree in Architecture in Portugal in 2014 to then move to London to follow her passion: studying illustration. Once in London, she graduated from the University of Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, with a further Master’s Degree in illustration in 2018.
Today Teresa creates colorful and powerful work from her studio in Porto, where she went back to open her firm and showroom and collaborate with several national and international clients.
Style & Technique
Her raw style is what makes her images stand out. Bold forms and vibrant colors give the abstract feeling of her works a rational structure. The idea for her starts from sketching. Teresa will organize her visual intentions, as she believes in manual techniques such as collage, painting, and screen printing. Shapes, textures, and compositions – as well as sometimes the use of Photoshop for large-scale projects – will complete the job.
Inspired by gardens, nature, history, and greenhouses, Teresa will choose textures and shapes according to these metrics. Hence, the balance of colors and coherence of forms that her work communicates all have a substantial connection with nature.
Her plans for the future are to continue working on a diverse range of surface design brand collaborations and more large-scale work. She’s also planning on hosting some events and workshops at her studio, bringing together the artistic community and people who want to learn something new.
