Parisian photographer Thibault Bunoust surely leans towards the study of the human soul and body language. In his Motel Series, he recreated – by himself and from scratch – a brand new Motel room inside another existing space, using wooden panels, selected furniture and objects.
Thibault Bunoust took this decision to carefully direct himself and to accurately enhance concepts like loneliness through soft movie lights, exacerbation through the right amount of details and objects, and stillness through exact body positions in his photography.
Every character in this series is obviously acting, although they all include feelings of weakness and human flaws, to appear so spontaneous. They are all surrenders, frozen in a Motel room which seems the only safe option where to find a bit of intimacy or just a quiet space where to simply stay for a while.
