Milano Design Week 2025: A Must-See for Artists and Creatives
From April 8 to 13, 2025, Fiera Milano Rho will host the 63rd edition of Salone del Mobile Milano, the most awaited international event for furniture and design lovers.
This year marks the return of Euroluce, the biennial focus on the latest innovations in lighting design. It features immersive installations, creative workshops, and expert-led talks tailored to emerging artists and designers.
Euroluce: Where Light Becomes Art and Inspiration
This year, light is the star of the show — interpreted as both artistic expression and architectural tool. American artist and curator Robert Wilson will guide the visual storytelling, turning the exhibition space into a stunning sensorial experience.
Don’t Miss:
- Talks and Roundtables with lighting designers, architects, creatives, and industry leaders
- “The Forest of Space” by Sou Fujimoto – a modular wooden arena filled with greenery
- “Drafting Futures” curated by Formafantasma – a space dedicated to the future of design.

When Michelangelo Meets Light: Robert Wilson at Castello Sforzesco
On April 6, at Castello Sforzesco, Robert Wilson’s piece “Mother” will dialogue with Michelangelo’s Pietà Rondanini, enhanced by a live musical performance from Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
Franco Laera curated the installation, which will be open to the public until May 18 in the historic Spanish Hospital Room.

Design Meets Cinema: Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Dolce Attesa”
Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino presents “La Dolce Attesa,” a site-specific installation in pavilions 22-24.
The project reflects on waiting rooms—those between airports, stations, and clinics—and transforms them through curated furniture and lighting into poetic and immersive environments.
Villa Héritage: Timeless Design by Pierre-Yves Rochon
Renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon introduces Villa Héritage (pavilions 13-15), a tribute to classic elegance.
This living space, filled with pieces from various design brands, is intended as a sanctuary of beauty, calm, and balance.

Prada Frames: A Journey into Design on Gio Ponti’s Arlecchino Train
One of the week’s most evocative experiences is Prada Frames, where visitors are invited to board the iconic Arlecchino train designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti.
The aesthetic echoed a golden era of postwar optimism—a harmonious blend of abstract geometry and playful chromatics emblematic of the bold artistic vision of 1950s Italian design. Every surface of the train spoke a language of form and fantasy: the walls adorned with stylized Harlequin faces, a tribute to the Commedia dell’Arte and its enduring cultural legacy, while the ceiling unfolded into a kaleidoscope of diamond-shaped mosaics, evoking the rhythm of motion and the elegance of theatrical set design. It was not merely a train but a moving manifesto of modernist creativity, where function danced with imagination. The train will be next to the Royal Pavilion at Milano Centrale, offering a unique blend of design, history, and aesthetics.
Fondazione FS Italiane has carefully restored its aerodynamic, naval-inspired exterior and panoramic interiors.
