ABOUT LUI FERREYRA – VISION AND TECHNIQUE
Lui Ferreyra (Denver, USA) is a freelance artist working since the early 2000s with a signature fragmented style. Throughout the years this style remains the most prominent feature of his artworks and style.
Lui Ferreyra describes this fragmentation with the metaphor surface and window, to depict the duality of the technique.
One can choose to slip through into the simulated space the shapes help to contextualize.
A similar effect was given by the impressionist of the 19th century such as Seurat’s pointillism, though Ferreyra’s subjects are resistant against narrative cues. The eye is still as the figure it has in front does not move through a story or action, so the emphasis can shift to visual perception.
