ABOUT ALEXANDRO PELAEZ
Alexandro Pelaez, originally from Caracas, is today a talented analog photographer based in London (UK). His career has been quite dynamic throughout the years. It all started with a BA in Communication Advertising at the Jackson University in Florida to then continue with a second BA Hons in Graphic Design at the Central Saint Martins University of the Arts London.
This above information tells us already something about him and his way of conceiving the world. Alexandro Pelaez has always been a journeyer who packs his soul together with his camera wherever he goes. His academic background taught him enough about composition, building a vision, and all the necessary technical skills needed so that he could push his boundaries as much as his curious personality requested.
It took him not that long then to discover his matching tool, the camera, to accomplish his desire of learning more about people, places and – inevitably- about himself. In 2003, Alexandro opened his studio in Chelsea, London, a space he mainly used for his portraits while starting his photographic career as a sports photographer for the Daily Mail to then assist fashion photographer Tony McGee (2005-2008).
ABOUT HIS WORK
Getting back to Alexandro’s vision in photography, London has undoubtedly been inspiring him as a neverending source. Having born in a chaotic city as Caracas and lived in other big urban environments such as Boston and Rome, he has always felt attracted towards those elements of a metropolis that London widely contains. Alexandro developed throughout the years a reliable technique, driven by his passion and that became his trademark, which he strongly expresses in his body of work Londoners and their Environment (2018) and his ultimate one Eclectic (2019).
Pelaez wants to push the viewer into a dynamic urban rhythm by juxtaposing several layers into one only and unique frame. Before finalizing the shooting Alexandro studies the subject or environment, to then focus on two mainframes, he will then overlap until the final picture appears as what he was aiming to show. As his preferred technique is film photography, Alexandro’s postproduction process covers only 10% of the overall final artwork, using it just as a tool to push the contrasts of the image. The result is a fascinating attempt to show the real chaotic sound and soul of the chosen environment or character.

Alexandro Pelaez will hold his next exhibition Eclectic from October 1st to 12th, (private view on October 9th), at Bermondsey Project Space in London, curated by Mara Alves.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2005 was the beginning of his rise as a professional photographer, and nowadays, Alexandro Pelaez is a proud owner of several photography awards, mentions, exhibitions, and prizes.
In 2014 Alexandro received the Highly Commended Award by the London Photographic Association for Heroes&Villains, to then win two Honourable Mentions by the International Photographer of the Year in 2017 and an Honourable mention by IPA International Photography Awards in New York in 2018. In the same year, he won the Silver Medal Award at San Francisco Bay International Photo Show and the finalist award by the Fine Art Photography Awards for both categories of People and Street Photography. In 2018 he also exhibited at the Photography Collective Show at the MIAMI ART BASEL for the Parallel Exhibition at the Miami Art Center with MIArt, with his project of a series of double exposure street photographs taken with his 35mm camera.
This current year, Alexandro received three Honourable Mention Awards by the IPA International Photography Awards in New York for the One-Shot Street Photography competition, New York as well as the Finalist Award by the Fine Art Photography Awards Category: Cityscape.
