The whispers of yesterday

Hello Arman! When or how have you understood you wanted to become an artist?

I always knew I wanted to become an artist since I was a child.

Can you briefly say something about your technique and tell us what drives you to make art?

My thesis at university was based on semiology and it helped me to find the meanings of the elements in different references. What inspires me is the silent whispers of every day that can be heard in music, literature, my dreams, and my background. As an introverted person, by making art I can talk or explain myself and my thoughts in a way that I can’t do in verbal language.

What is the main feature that has changed in your works or practice throughout the years?

I’ve paid attention to the details, elements, and the connection between them, but more than those, it has been more important to me to tell a story through the images I created.

Which artist primarily inspires your work? And is there something else, outside visual arts, that keeps you motivated?

Caravaggio. Above all music. Then cinema and literature have kept me motivated.

How would you like people to engage with your work?

Through my work, I wish people to perceive things not as they perceive them in ordinary life.

Attention. Handle with care

Spread the word! Do you have anything exciting on the horizon?

I have many etudes to make them into final works shortly. Despite struggling sometimes, I’m eager to go on to enjoy creating.
