ABOUT SCOTT SUEME

Scott Sueme was raised in Vancouver BC, where he initially worked as a graphic artist and painter approaching the graffiti’s subculture, for which he left his studies at the Emily Carr University in 2006 to deepen his venture and carrier through art, design, and installation painting. His choice was made to pursue a deeper understanding through first-hand experience.

Today Scott has been commissioned to work with collaborators such as HCMA Architecture, P22d Design, and The City of Vancouver. Recently, he has completed large-scale mural projects with The City of Vancouver and Hootsuite, wrapping a full 3 story building for the Vancouver Mural Festival (2016).

Coming from a background in graffiti, Scott has always seen his artistic carrier as an attempt to experiment and break boundaries. As a matter of fact, he tries multiple mediums to obtain more “happy incidents” in his process. Indeed beyond an overly polished product, is the attempt to explore the conceptual side of art by juxtaposing materials and techniques, to express his renewed spontaneous outlook. His attempt is to cause a reaction and to be edgy, so as to stand out with a nonconventional artistic approach.

CURRENT WORKS

Today Scott is a skilled artist that found success with various commissioned projects relating to public and corporate art ventured. He also conveyed brand images such as Nike, Microsoft, VANOC, and the City of Vancouver.

Scott currently works out of his studio in DTES in Vancouver BC as a freelance artist and graphic designer. He showcases his works on an international level, aspiring to grow in the graffiti art world and further his technique and process.

I recognize the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations people as the original caretakers of the territory and land in which I live and work. As a second-generation settler here, I am mindful of the space, environment, and resources with whom I engage. In the spirit of respect, I strive to embrace reciprocity in my community and take action toward equality.
