Freelance artist Lui Ferreyra (Denver, USA) works since the early 2000’s with a signature fragmented style, which remains throughout the years the most prominent feature of his artworks and style.
He describes this fragmentation with the metaphor surface and window, to depict the duality of the technique, the stillness and the dynamism, the at and the through.
One can choose to dwell within the surface of the work or slip through into the simulated space the shapes help to contextualize.
A similar effect was given by the impressionist of the 19th century such as Seurat’s pointillism, though Ferreyra’s subjects are resistant against narrative cues. The eye is still as the figure it has in front does not move through a story or action, so the emphasis can shift to visual perception.
Recently he has been included in some of Colorado’s most prestigious exhibitions and competitions, such as Colorado Masters, The Best of Colorado and Art of the State, and has been published in several International art magazines.
You may find his work at the William Havu Gallery in Denver, where he is currently represented.
