To keep motivated and support yourself, specially when you are a freelancer, is not as easy as it seems.
People tend to imagine a creative self worker as fortunate, but the half glass has always two sides of being perceived. It’s not the 9 to 5 kind of job and you have no keys to close your office for the holidays. You have to keep your mind in action at all times.
There are several ways to smooth the process, so let’s lower the panic. One of my favorite methods is to leaf through magazines. I wish to mention for this a very inspiring one that I got to know by chance at the Amsterdam airport. I was looking for a flight entertainment read and at the terminal book store I got immediately my attention on one of the most awesome craft and creative magazines I’ve personally ever saw. It’s not about design or fashion brands, it doesn’t either have any advertising in it.
I’m talking about FLOW – A magazine for paper lovers. It’s just fascinating. Get also the printed version. As soon as you begin to leaf the pages you just want to get involved with its articles and grounded topics. Try it!
It personally gave me a great inspiration for Hue&Eye.
This is what our self motivated job is about: eyes wide open on any small detail around.
Let’s keep this as special as it should be.
Keep it up by writing down a list of your monthly best finds, our mind is not capable to store all of the items we continuosly bump into!
