Seattle based landscape photographer Cody Cobb attempts to capture brief moments of stillness from the chaos of nature.
His focus is the American West, from the deserts of Utah to the Hawaiian islands, aiming to portray scenes of the earth’s surface characterized by wonderful atmospheres with a melancholic touch. To accomplish this, he always uses natural light.
He says:”(…) the light and landscape is always unexpected. I shoot when I feel moved by that sense of discovery”. Photography is seen as a therapy to Cody, a tool to escape the daily stress, and for this, he finds the American West the perfect scenario. The Western USA is indeed rich in diversity of landscapes, from rugged coastline, glaciated valleys, canyons, dense old-growth forests, lava tubes, rivers, etc. Here, also more tourists and popular places such as Yosemite National Park are exciting to him.
Cody Cobb’s work has appeared in many publications such as California Sunday Magazine, British Airways High Life, MADE Quarterly, Aint-Bad Magazine, “The Outsiders” by Gestalten, and “Cascadia” by Another Place Press.
